More BBall

I can never buy gifts for Chris. He doesn't have a large variety of hobbies. Basically sports and electronics. The electronics he gets for himself when he feels like it, thanks to Best Buy. I don't even pretend to know what a good deal is. I know what's shiny and looks nice, and I've been able to learn how to work a few basic things like a camera, camcorder, and DVR.
So that just leaves sports.
He's a lifelong BYU football fan and Utah Jazz fan. I've given him T-Shirts and jerseys and whatever else, but you gotta draw the line somewhere. So when I was wasting time on Ebay and found some Utah Jazz/LA Clippers tickets for a game in Feb, I was sold. I knew it'd give him plenty of time to get his work schedule figured out and plan for the kids to be taken care of. And I knew he'd be completely surprised, shocked, elated about the idea.

So the night finally came. He was so excited. He spent the drive out there telling me about all those many years ago when he'd go to games with his friend who had court-side season tickets and all the perks therein.
No, we couldn't afford those tickets, nor could I afford the Laker game tickets. He didn't care.

We had a blast. It was my first professional basketball game. There were quite a few Utah fans in attendance, including a cute family of 4 with two little kids all decked out in their matching Williams jerseys. The baby girl's was PINK!
When the team ran out all I could say is Wow! They're huge! I couldn't get over how big they were. TV doesn't do them justice. They looked how I expected them to look, but they're just huge.
Chris wore his Kirilenko jersey and thought about trying to get close enough to get it signed. At one point during a time out I thought I saw AK47 looking over our way and so waved to see if he'd wave back. He didn't.

Another time I looked over, grabbed Chris' arm and said "I just saw Jeff Hornacek!" Then I thought I was just seeing things. But I wasn't. It was him. Sitting with the announcers. That was an added bonus to the night.

It was a lot of fun being there with him. It was the first time I had seen him watch a basketball game sitting down in a chair. Normally he's standing pacing the floor. I wonder if that was hard for him. Our seats were great, squished between four huge mountain men Clipper fans, but at least they weren't mean!
I didn't expect myself to get so involved in the outcome of the game. But I did. I got nervous if the score was too close, and during critical free throws. I knew they couldn't lose! Not while we were there!

I feel like I did something loving for my husband and I know he was grateful. I still have yet to cash in on his Christmas present to me: a spa visit especially for pregnant mamas past their first trimester. Just waiting for the right moment!

Um, those are great seats!! That's so amazing. I keep wanting to buy my husband Real Salt Lake season tickets, but we aren't independently wealthy yet. Maybe someday.

You are just like me: A husband with a few desires and who likes to get things for himself.

I'm glad he liked the tickets. Oh, and I had a spa day when I was about 6 months pregnant. Maybe 7. It was AWESOME. My maternity massage was the best. It almost put me to sleep. Which is difficult to do when you are naked under a sheet.

I hope you get your day soon!

That's awesome! Way to go Kim. Jess is just as difficult. His only other interest is tools. I can tell a hammer apart from a screwdriver, but that's about the extent of my tool knowledge.
I think I need one of those spa days myself! I'll ask for one for mothers day or my b-day!
